Hkb progress - UV mapping finished
Today I managed to finalize UVW mapping. Next step is coloring and textures. First map gives good view on how many different parts there are involved.

Hkb progress
Boring work on UVW coordinates continues. Idea is to get texture on right side to use as few texture islets as possible. In the left side there is remaining of UVW unwrap with thousand islets to be combined. I believe every of those islets is causing a separate draw call which in turn causes unnecessary GPU strain. This strain can be easily avoided if islets are stiched together in reasonable pattern.

Today I mapped 2 hours of UVW coordinates for Hkb. I find it dull that to get even mediocre results you still have to do this task manually.

Hkb progress
Summer is over and I am back! I hope to have more time for these projects now but cannot promise anything. Hkb is getting texture mapping and I managed to delete 800 redundant polygons today.

Hkb progress
Today I managed to finish modelling work on Hkb. Next step is texturing and exporting to game. This wagon will be used in testing of Sr1 physics with variable loads, couplers and scripting so these two projects are very related.

I have been really busy lately but because summer vacation is coming I hope to allocate more time for modelling. Today I made a hand brake lever and few additional details to the Hkb.

Moving slowly towards front end of locomotive. 110 volt powersource unit and motor temperature surveilance on left side behind safety door. It took a while to write all those texts in fuse label :p

Sr1 progress - engine room
Texture making is proceeding with textures. Here is part of "Säätöyksikkö 276" or Control Unit 276 texture in photoshop. Because this part is not behind safety doors and is fully visible in corridor I have decided to texture it with more accuracy.
It seems that this unit carries lot of legacy of Sr1 from past decades and is filled with all sort of modification and date of modification stickers.

Testing baking of textures with current light setup. Seems to be bit too bright.

Moved and scaled stuff around and tweaked doors. This section should be quite ready now. Still seeking pictures where the dual drive selector is. This time the picture is rendered and presents somewhat better what baked textures will be like.

Added more details to second air section. Marked few locations with red where I have no pictures, if you have pics/info I gladly accept them at sama1@hotmail.fi. Upper box with red is "Kaksinajon vaihtokytkin" or switch for double traction. Based on rough layout I know its somewhere there, but precise location/orientation is unknown.

After reinstalling all major programs into new SSD drive I can continue with this project.Train Simulator runs very smoothly on SSD and I can recommend it for anyone who finds in game stuttering annoying. Today I modelled grounding crocodile clips(funnily those are pike jaw connectors in finnish).

Progress on hold
Due to hard drive decay related problems I have been unable to use modelling program. No project files are lost and I hope to get replacement drives working on coming week. Hopefully I can get back to regular updates then.

Added more details to first air section. Valve in middle is a brake class selector, which is something that locomotive driver has to switch often.
